Kaubamaja salesperson complains boredom and says a buyer has never got as much attention as now. Several shops in Tallinn have been closed, moved to a smaller sales area and limited working time.

I just read from kaupppalehti that in Helsinki there are 750 000 m2 of business premises without rent clients! so what do we expect then. though i think there has always been a lot of movement in Tallinn - shops-cafes closing/moving/opening continuously. only before we didnt write about it in the newspapers.

the first photo is a shop in De la Gardie that never went well, even during the boom times. because its badly located in the rooftop floor and uncomfortable to reach, bad choice of goods too. the second is a shop that is in vanaviru, and had a very bad choice of goods too. dont know who ever bought smth from there...

The question is if the decisionmakers in Estonia - not only on governmental level - are really capable to handle this smaller and more volatile economy?

My answer is: not at the moment.

We can be happy that the banks are backed up by foreign companies, because else Estonia would take place with Iceland already.

Estonia to sell quota
for a billion kroons

Estonian ministry of environmental affairs has approved draft agreement to sell spare emission allowances to Spain for 688 million kroons and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. for an unspecified price, according to a statement on the ministry’s website, reported Bloomberg.

June retail sales
fell 7% in a year

Retail sales volume decreased 7% at constant prices in June year on year. According to Statistics Estonia, retail sales have been declining during the whole year in annual terms: in January retail sales decreased 12%, in February 11%, in March and April 9% and in May 5% compared to the respective months a year ago.

airBaltic may expand its taxi service into Estonia

Value of property deals continues
to fall in Estonia

In the first six months, there were 19,002 real estate transactions in Estonia worth 9.83 billion kroons. A year earlier, the figures were 18,914 and 11 billion kroons.

Exports up 38%, imports 47% in May

In May exports of goods from Estonia amounted to 11.3 billion kroons and were 38% higher than a year earlier. Imports were up 47% to 12.5 billion kroons. Trade deficit stood at 1.2 billion kroons and was four times more than in May 2009.COMMENTS (14)
